Just a quick update here on four new sites where you can see my photographs…

The wonderful Slipway Restaurant in Thomaston, Maine serves up the freshest seafood in delectable ways…and an awesome coastal setting to boot!

A fun shoot in Portland, Maine for PORTopera for their Young Artist Program production of Gianni Schicchi.

Marcel Valliere of Valliere Design Studio came up with the innovative renovation that redefined this coastal home. Rockledge, a Maine Vacation Rental features my photographs throughout the site.

And speaking of Valliere Design Studio, be sure to visit their site here and check out three projects featuring my photography…Back Bay Headhouse, Rockport Renovation, and Long Cove Renovation.

The Lake House, Rangeley, Maine

Designed by Ellen Albrecht of ENS Associates, and built by Mark Gordon of Rangeley Building & Remodeling , the Lake House sits proudly on the shores of Rangeley Lake. With a design that complements its natural surroundings, one immediately feels right at home upon entering. Quality construction and thoughtful design throughout, this is a home that speaks to the rusticator in all of us.

Post and Beam on the Coast of Maine

I was recently contacted by Suzanne Weiss at Carleton Realty in Bath, Maine to shoot a beautifully stunning home on the coast. The property includes the main house, guest house, horse barn, paddocks and pastures, gardens and plenty of room to enjoy the natural beauty that abounds. The main house was built 17 years ago by Rockport Post and Beam and has been meticulously cared for ever since. With an eye-catching and prominent fireplace, the entire home exudes warmth and charm. East Brown Cow Management

East Brown Cow Property Management owns, develops and manages properties in the greater Portland, Maine area. The company’s portfolio includes a mix of office, retail and flex space. They have earned a reputation for providing first-class service to their tenants and for their commitment to the neighborhoods where their properties are located.

This winter Dave Clough Photography was commissioned by East Brown Cow to photograph all of their properties for their soon-to-launch website. With twenty commercial properties, including the brand new Hyatt Place Hotel on Fore Street opening later in May, East Brown Cow plays a vital role in defining who and what Portland, Maine is. Their client list includes Fore Street Restaurant, Company C, Intermed, Key Bank, United Way, Portland Hunt and Alpine Club, and Maine Home + Design to name a few.

Phase One of the project (winter shots) are shown here…Stay tuned for Phase Two!

NYC – Nobuyuki Tsujii at Carnegie Hall Weekend

What a treat it was to see Nobuyuki Tsujii, Japanese pianist, perform again – this time a program of Beethoven at Carnegie Hall with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. A chilly and snowy day in Manhatten, but what fun it was. With a  bowl of Totto Ramen to warm things up, the day could not have been better. Backstage at Carnegie Hall after the magnificent performance, and dinner with Nobuyuki-san and friends topped off a wonderful day in the city.

For more on Nobuyuki Tsujii, visit Peter Rosen Productions site and his movie on the 13th Van Cliburn competition here. Also, a great way for keeping up with Mr. Tsujii’s busy schedule is to visit the official fan page here.

In the News: American Folk Art Museum and MOMA

In April of 2013, I photographed the American Folk Art Museum just after MOMA had announced it would be demolishing the building as part of its expansion plans. After a loud collective public outcry, MOMA decided to forego its plans…That is until yesterday, January 8, when it was announced at the offices of Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS + R) that the Folk Art Museum would be coming down after all…and soon.

The American Folk Art Museum was built in 2001 and it will be razed by June of this year…The stunningly impressive bronze facade will be gone…Take a look at the first photo and you can just make out the ghosts of the letters that once graced the building, and now even these remnants of the recent past, too, will be gone.

For more information, visit  the NY Times coverage here, Architectural Record’s story here, or Archinect’s take here. And lastly, I enjoyed reading Jerry Saltz’s view here.

2013

From Blue Hill to Boston, Casco Bay to Rangeley…From cabins to churches  to concert halls…2013 was a remarkable year to remember.  I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph the beautiful architecture that I did, and to capture the wonderful scenes along the way. Thank you to all who made the year what it was.

Here, then, a reflective montage of the year,  with a toast to the year to come!
